Artist Bio

Owner and founder of Birds of Prey Tattoo

Tom,

Ever since Tom was a young boy he has had a passion for art. Growing up in the Barossa Valley, art was always a favourite subject during his schooling years. After school Tom went on to complete two courses at TAFE in both graphic design and fashion. Toms love for art is heavily influenced by his father who is a professional comic book artist.

Tom started his tattoo apprenticeship under Reg Spooner at Ink Obsession in May 2011 where he was fortunate to then work between 3 further studios, Gawler body art, Venom art in Prospect and Ink Obsession in the Barossa Valley. In 2015 Tom left Venom Art to work at Progression Tattoo.

Tom moved to Progression Tattoo to peruse his preferred style of tattooing which is Japanese. He has always had a strong interest in illustrative based tattooing. He loves tattoos with detail, strong colours and bold line work. After 8 amazing years Tom moved on from Progression Tattoo and settled into the wonderful Black Diamond Tattoo, where he spent almost 2 years continuing his focus on specialty Japanese tattooing, whilst also settling down into his dream house with his wife and daughter.

Throughout Tom’s tattoo career he has attended multiple conventions both nationally and internationally. His two personal favourites are the New Zealand Tattoo Festival in New Plymouth and Le Mondial Du Tatouage in Paris. Tom is the proud owner of Birds of Prey Tattoo. To read more about the Birds of Prey story, refer to the Our Story page. Outside of tattooing Tom also has a real interest in fine art. The medium he has focused on lately has been ink and tea on cotton rag. Other than tattooing and fine art Tom loves music, film and travel.
