Ben Morrison

Artist Bio

Ben,

Art has always been a constant in Ben's life. He has worked a number of different professions prior to being given an opportunity to pursue my life long aspiration as a tattoo artist. I am in my second year of tattooing. Ben’s passion is in Japanese inspired, art nouveau movement and illustrative tattooing.

Ben has trained in Goju Ryu Karate for 12 years. Traveling to Japan in 2014 to train at the hombu dojo of Seishikan. His passion for karate extends to the history, culture and zen meditative practices, focusing on discipline and a strong ethic that extends to how he approaches tattooing.

In 2015 Ben completed his studies at university, graduating with Honors in Sociology. Tattooing was the focus for the thesis requirement of Ben’s Honors year. Taking on interview in literature analysis suggested that the current discourse on the role of the tattoo artist was far more complete and deserved more attention and research given to it, when considering the role of cultural tastemakers as it pertains to clients' body projects.

Ben’s particular area of interest is in the Ukiyo e and edo period of Japanese art. Expressing that the strength and timeless nature of these designs are what drives him when creating art and tattooing.

Tattooing is about storytelling and the connections created between artist and client. It is the most important element, that the experience provided to his clients is reflective of respect and integrity. No tattoo is too small or stylistically different to not be given this.

”I look forward to hearing your ideas and aspirations for your tattoo journey, and cannot wait to be apart of it with you,
Ben.”
